HOA Committee Updates:

If you are interested in joining any of these committees or learning more, please email the board. The board contact is in parentheses.

Social Committee (JoAnn Kuo):  SAVE THE DATE — Community Potluck is tentatively rescheduled for Sunday, October 26.  If you would like to host a private event in the common area, such as the picnic pavilion or concrete pad, please email the board.

Parking Committee (Chris Offen):  “Private Parking Only” signs were installed in July.  Currently, no permits are required to park in the neighborhood.  Report parking-related issues to the parking committee: Jason Berg (jason@bestbergs.com) and Carolyn Cochran (carolyn.cochran@yahoo.com).

Landscaping Committee (Tracy King):  Freddy’s will continue to weed, trim plants, and clean fallen leaves in the coming month. Final trimming and mulching will occur later in the year in preparation for winter.

Community Transition Committee (Chris Offen):  The third-party engineer created a draft report of common area issues based on the community walk-through in July with EYA and the HOA board.  A resident survey for collecting homeowners’ observations was distributed September 8.  Relevant responses are being incorporated into the engineer report.

Communication Committee (JoAnn Kuo):   Check out the website (www.townhomesatrestationhoa.org) for information including house paint colors, accessing the neighborhood google group and the Owners Portal, EYA Reston Station subcontractors, and non-curbside recycling options.

Architectural Review Committee (ARC) (JoAnn Kuo):  NOTE: House paint colors and finishes (e.g., flat) by material (e.g., front door, rear siding, etc.) can be found on the community website as well as the Owners Portal.  Any exterior modifications to your property must be applied for and approved beforehand.

Helpful Hint:

Smoke detectors tend to chirp due to low battery when it is colder (e.g., when temperatures drop in the middle of the night during the winter). To avoid this, consider replacing the batteries the first Sunday of November when we “fall back” to standard time.  NOTE: In addition to smoke and smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, your townhouse may also have a heat detector.  While the smoke detectors use 9V batteries, the heat detector uses 3 AAA batteries.  Here's a side-by-side PHOTO.
